Identification of senescence-related molecular subtypes and key genes for prostate cancer

Abstract: We identified distinct senescence-related molecular subtypes and critical genes among prostate cancer (PCa) patients undergoing radical prostatectomy (RP) or radical radiotherapy (RT). We conducted all analyses using R software and its suitable packages. Twelve genes, namely, secreted frizzled-related protein 4 ( SFRP4 ), DNA topoisomerase II alpha ( TOP2A ), pleiotrophin ( PTN ), family with sequence similarity 107 member A ( FAM… Show more

“…Our study also demonstrates a correlation between age and TGM1 expression. Aging is a well-known risk factor for various tumors, as it results in reduced cell proliferation, homing, and differentiation processes (Feng et al 2023 ; Hu et al 2022 ; Feng et al 2020 ). These abnormalities in the human body contribute to the promotion and development of tumors (Ruiz et al 2023 ).…”

“…An increasing number of studies showing links between PCa and aging [ 1 , 8 , 14 , 15 , 32 , 53 ]. Senescent cells can also inhibit carcinogenesis, promote tumor growth, recurrence, and PCa metastasis in advanced stages [ 54 , 55 ].…”

“…Aging is an unavoidable process of human and has different characteristics compared with young stage [28,92]. The incidence rate of cancer usually increases with aging [93,94]. Meanwhile, the world is entering an era of aging population [95].…”
