Abstract: Background Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a fatal muscle wasting disease caused by mutations in the dystrophin gene. DE50-MD dogs are a canine model of DMD used as final translational models for evaluation of promising treatments. MicroRNA (miR) expressions in the muscle of DE50-MD dogs represent potential biomarkers, but stable reference miRs must first be identified.
