“…The cost-optimal design of a dry-cooling system for power plants was investigated in [161] with SQP and relevant decomposition methods, which showed that with well-structured optimization problem and solving strategy, the direct optimization of complex problems is not necessary to be time-consuming and difficult. Similar optimization problem for modern coal-fired power plants is solved in [162] considering more comprehensively the off-design performance of the whole plant calibrated with historical operating data, thus potentially yielding practical operating strategies to cope with different operating scenarios of power plants. The SQP algorithms are also employed in [158] to optimize the steam cycles considering its interaction with boiler cold-end, which took the steam-extraction pressures as independent variables to optimize the overall plant efficiency.…”

“…Recently, Li et al (2018b) performed data-driven modelling of an air-cooled condenser in a 660 MW power plant. They investigated the optimal operating fan frequency to a maximum power gain.…”

“…It was seen that an increase in the fan frequency increases the heat transfer on the air side, despite a rise in power consumption. In addition, Li et al (2018b) claimed that the performance of the plant degrades with time and therefore the performance of a plant differs from the design specifications of the manufacturer. Hence, real operating data should be used to adjust off-design models.…”

“…The stream data related to all regenerative heats (RHs) have been listed in Table 1 for the turbine heat rate acceptance (THA) condition, under which the inlet conditions and back pressure of the turbine are nominal with the regenerative feedwater preheaters operating normally. More detailed descriptions of 1000 MW-level coal-fired power plants can be found elsewhere in our publications, e.g., [ 58 , 59 , 60 , 61 , 62 , 63 ], and will not be repeated here.…”
