Identification of nonlinear state-space time-delay system

Abstract: Purpose This paper aims to investigate an identification strategy for the nonlinear state-space model (SSM) in the presence of an unknown output time-delay. The equations to estimate the unknown model parameters and output time-delay are derived simultaneously in the proposed strategy. Design/methodology/approach The unknown integer-valued time-delay is processed as a latent variable which is uniformly distributed in a priori known range. The estimations of the unknown time-delay and model parameters are bot… Show more

“…As Bayes suggested, in one particular case, we express complete ignorance by assigning a uniform prior probability density (Dubois, 2006; Jaynes, 1968). Consider the prior probability density of time delay τ k is a complete unknown and according to the assumption of unknown time delay (Liu et al, 2019), τ k is assumed to be an integer-valued and obeys a discrete uniform distribution in the range of [ τ α , τ β ] . Consider the prior probability density of the time-delay τ k as…”

“…For example, when “Jiaolong” HOV descends from the surface to the 7,000-meters bottom by unpowered diving, the distance between the ideal landing position and actual landing position reaches up to several hundred meters even thousands of meters, which is inefficient for repeated fixed-point dives. Compared with unpowered diving, spiral diving also requires configured propellers to provide horizontal thrust and torque to assist in realizing horizontal circular motion by robust control scheme (Hegrenaes et al , 2007; Sun et al , 2014; Lapierre, 2009; Liu et al , 2019b; Liu et al , 2019c). The anti-flow effects of spiral diving can ensure that the horizontal position of the landing point is close to the entry point, which is of great significance for fixed-point diving operations.…”

“…This phenomenon is called time delay. Time delay exists widely in various practical systems, such as mechanical drive systems (Liu et al , 2020), industrial process systems (Yan and Li, 2022), warehouse management systems (Tai et al , 2019). Systems with time delay are also referred to as time delay systems (Qi et al , 2023; Yang et al , 2023).…”
