Identification of microRNA differentially expressed in three subtypes of non-small cell lung cancer and in silico functional analysis

Abstract: Emerging studies demonstrated that miRNAs played fundamental roles in lung cancer. In this study, we attempted to explore the clinical significance of the miRNA signature in different histological subtypes of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Three miRNome profiling datasets (GSE19945, GSE25508 and GSE51853) containing lung squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), lung adenocarcinoma (ADC) and large cell lung cancer (LCLC) samples were obtained for bioinformatics and survival analysis. Moreover, pathway enrichment and… Show more

“…44,48,51,54,[56][57][58][59] In NSCLC, miRNA-375 is associated with poor prognosis. 43,44,60 Interestingly, miRNA-375 is strongly associated with the Wnt/ b-catenine pathway 49 and the Hippo pathway, 59,[61][62][63] known to be involved in ICIs resistance. [64][65][66][67][68][69][70] Moreover, miRNA-375 targets the JAK2 gene, 62,71 involved in the IFN-g and TNF-a pathways, key-regulators of cytotoxic CD8C immune response.…”

“…miRNAs are small non-coding RNAs that regulate 30% of gene expressions (29,30). miRNAs act as master regulators of gene expression in numerous important biological pathways, including cell cycle, apoptosis and proliferation (31), particularly in cancer.…”

“…Since downregulation of miR-203a-3p and let-7-5p family would increase TRIM71 ( Figure 5C), Figure 5B). In the integrated analysis of NSCLC, DNA replication and cell cycle pathways have been detected [128,129], and the WNT and the MAPK signaling pathways were implicated in lung cancer [130]; however, no let-7-5p family hub has been reported on the stage I-II of NSCLC in silico [131][132][133] even though lncRNA interactions were integrated [130,134].…”
