Identification of mechanical and damage parameters of composite laminates based on a CPAM method

Abstract: A new method combining experimental and numerical data is proposed to simultaneously determine the mechanical properties and damage parameters in multilayered composite plates. Studied parameters are mechanical properties of each layer, width and length of delamination zone, location of damage’s center, and interface location of the damage. In this method, the PSO optimization procedure based on a CPAM algorithm uses vibration test data along with their corresponding numerical solution. Vibration data are the … Show more

“…Bolt looseness identification is a type of damage identification, which is widely used in engineering construction, mechanical facilities, aerospace, vehicles, and other fields [2][3][4][5]. Timely identification and damage diagnosis are essential for ensuring the regular operation of equipment and the routine application of infrastructure [6,7].…”

“…Michael et al, 4 Khammassi et al, 5 Tate et al, 6 Zhang et al, 7 and Yang et al 8 used the natural frequency to predict the extent and location of the delamination in composite beams and plates, respectively. Chandrashekhar et al, 9 Serovaev et al 10,11 , Masoumi et al, 12 and Geweth et al 13 used the natural frequency and mode shape to determine the damage parameters of multilayered composite plates. He et al 14 used the flexibility curvature to detect the composite beams with single, multiple or different degree damage.…”

“…Its main disadvantage is, however, that it can converge prematurely before reaching the best result (global optimum). To overcome this shortcoming, various improvements have been made to the method and satisfactory results have been obtained for damage detection in laminated composites (Rao et al 2015;Masoumi et al 2018;Jebieshia et al 2020).…”
