Extant research studies support has stressed the significance of nourishment on the physical health of humans. Some of the past academic literature has also hinted at an interconnect between food, thoughts, and action that becomes especially significant in the current era of Anthropocene. Organic farming production and consumption can not only enhance economic well-being but also promote social well-being along with subject well-being. Beyond the individual level, a community level facilitates fostering physical emotional physical and emotional ecosystems. However, several studies have inferred seemingly dubious claims about the impact of natural food intake on the mental well-being of an individual. In light of this impinging need, this first-of-its-kind study focused to search the impact of organic food consumption on the cognitive behaviour of individuals. Interview-based qualitative field research with 30 peasants’ families was conducted in two phases in the model organic village of Manj Gaon of Uttarakhand. Results indicate that organic farming has positively impacted the mental well-being of the farmers, and apart from it, physical health, food security, and financial security are the fringe benefits for native organic farmers. However, there are many bottlenecks from the policy perspective such as non-availability of organic seeds, lack of marketplaces, lack of transportation infrastructure, and almost no facility of cold storage and warehouse, especially during the time of summer season. All these significantly hamper the adoption and sustenance of organic food production and consumption. Although many farmers exhibit the attributes of subjective well-being, as an outcome, it is rooted in the consumption of organic food, because better intake leads to a better thought process and eventually the results get reflected in the form of a better human being. To conclude, better thoughts, emotions, mind, and health of a human individual and society are strongly rooted in the adoption of chemical and pesticide-free food, i.e. organic.

Application of Improving ABC in Cold Chain Low Carbon Logistics Path Planning

The market has set higher efficiency and environmental requirements for cold chain logistics, and path planning plays an important role. This study proposes a low-carbon cold chain logistics path planning model based on an improved artificial bee colony algorithm (this paragraph refers to ”fusion algorithm”). The study first establishes the fusion algorithm. Then, in response to the shortcomings of this algorithm, the artificial fish swarm algorithm and genetic algorithm are used to improve it. The final results express that the shortest distance for solving Eil51 using this algorithm is 421.38, the longest distance is 448.58, and the average distance is 439.34; The shortest distance for solving Ulysses22 is 72.46, the longest distance is 73.63, and the average distance is 72.84. The average convergence times for Eil51 and Ulysses22 are 133.57 and 7.86, and the optimal performance ratios for relative error are 0.0076 and 0.0051. The robust performance ratios are 0.0362 and 0.0117. The optimal total cost solution and the average value for solving the relevant distribution problem are 47,894.6 yuan and 48,562.7 yuan, respectively. In summary, the model proposed in the study has good application effects in cold chain low-carbon logistics path planning, and has a certain promoting effect on the development of cold chain logistics.

Purpose Existing literature is still lacking field works that reflect the implications and applications of blockchain in supply chain management. This paper aims to explore the role of blockchain technology in improving the performance of maritime shipping and develop a model to enhance blockchain applicability. Design/methodology/approach Qualitative data were collected through 28 semi-structured interviews from several supply chain actors in the Middle East and were analyzed based on a thematic analysis approach using NVivo software. Findings An emerging model for improving the performance of the maritime shipping industry through blockchain technology has been developed. The findings suggest that there are transparency and process efficiency–related improvements as an outcome of Blockchain implementation in the maritime shipping industry. Practical implications As shipping industry is largely fragmented, small players find it difficult to achieve great benefits such as those achieved by larger players in the sector. The authors’ model provides guidance for the implementation of Blockchain. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is one of the first scholarly works to investigate Blockchain applicability in shipping industry in the Middle East. The lack of a universal standard is a considerable challenge which is still hindering the development of blockchain applications that integrate the different actors.
