“…Pulsotype V belonged to ST2102 and this pulsotype was found in one farm. This ST has been reported in a Spanish hospital (Torres-Sangiao et al 2012); it belongs to the CC30, a dominant lineage in community and hospital associated S. aureus infections. It is reasonable to hypothesise that the detection of this ST was due to human contamination as we did not find any reports in the literature on the involvement of this ST in bovine mastitis.…”

“…10 The clonal distribution of MRSA in our hospital differs from that found in the rest of Spain since the major HA-MRSA clones were pandemic, 43% ST5-MRSA-IV (Pediatric clone CC5), 39% ST22-MRSA-IV (EMRSA-15 CC22), and 14% ST36-MRSA-II (EMRSA-16 CC30), the latter two were not widespread in Spain except in Galicia and Mallorca. 26,35 In addition, clone ST125-MRSA-IV was scarcely present (0.6%) in our hospital 1,26,35,37 and among the CA-MRSA clones, the presence of clone ST72-MRSA-IV (USA 700), belonging to a recombination between CC5 and CC8, was also low (0.7%). 17 We observed the presence of clone ST398-MRSA-IV (1.3%) which, although scarce, reflects the introduction of LA-MRSA clones in our hospital, and the clone ST2574-MRSA-XI, which was recently identified in England, a mecC gene carrier of uncertain origin but possibly related to LA-MRSA clones.…”

“…8,10,19,22,43 Furthermore, EMRSA-15 has also been reported in other non-European countries, such as USA, 15 India, 14 and Malaysia; 20 however, in these locations it was not the predominant clone. EMRSA-15 has been recently reported to be found in high rates also in community settings in Portugal, suggesting the spillover of the clone from nosocomial settings into the community.…”
