“…[2023] Importantly, the United States and Canadian authors demonstrated that the test reliability for the individual patient is better when one uses as the antigen the drug with which the patient has been treated. [20] All of the commercially available preparations of IFNb (at the time of patient recruitment these included: Rebif, Avonex i Betaferon) were used in this study.…”

“…It has been discussed whether the measurements of BAbs provide information regarding neutralization of IFN-b response [18,19,37,38]. Measurement of BAbs with ELISA or Western blot was considered unsuitable for clinical use [39], although a capture ELISA may be used [18], and it was suggested that BAbs measurements of patients on IFN-b-1a could be performed as an alternative to NAbs analysis (measured by CPE bioassay) for samples with NAbs titres equal to or higher than 100 [38]. Because of the significant correlations for BAbs with both NAbs and MxAindexes, our results indicate that BAb measurements by the use of a capture ELISA provide useful results.…”

“…In a study of antibody testing at a commercial laboratory, a predictive relationship between BAb levels (N33 units) as measured by ELISA and high NAb titers (≥100 NU/mL) measured by CPE assay was found for patients receiving IFNβ-1a IM or IFNβ-1a SC, but not for those receiving IFNβ-1b [68]. The authors suggested that a one-step testing process (ie, BAb ELISA) may be sufficient for patients receiving IFNβ-1a with BAb levels N33 units.…”
