Identification of hub genes and molecular genetic mechanisms in Alzheimer’s Disease and Schizophrenia

Abstract: Cognitive impairment and psychotic symptoms are both common in schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease (AD), affecting more than half of the patients. Shared symptoms between AD and SCZ indicating similar cerebral pathophysiologies exist, common in both clinical and subclinical settings. Neurochemical alterations of the dopaminergic/cholinergic axis are important in schizophrenia and AD, as well as high-risk genes.
