Identification of Germinal Mutations in Eight Exons of the BRCA1 Gene in Breast Cancer Patients in the State of Amazonas, Using Direct Sequencing

Abstract: Mutations in the BRCA1 gene are responsible for 50% of cases of hereditary breast cancer. The objective of this study was to perform screening of mutations in the BRCA1 gene in breast cancer patients treated in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. We analyzed 53 patients (51 women and 2 men) ranging from 30 to 71 years of age.
