Identification of chemicals resulted in selective glycerol conversion as sustainable fuel on Pd-based anode nanocatalysts

Abstract: International audiencePalladium-based nanoparticles were prepared using mild microwave-assisted heating. The activity of carbon supported PdM (M = Mn and Fe) toward glycerol oxidation in alkaline medium was studied by coupling electrochemical, analytical and in situ spectroscopic techniques. The complementary findings showed that glycerol was converted into oxalate, tartronate, glycerate, glycolate and formate. The ex situ analytical methods (liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry) were helpful to reveal … Show more

“…One of the main interests in the electrocatalysis field is to develop materials applied to fuel cells , biofuel cells , and electrolysers to obtain highly valuable compounds and sensors . Such materials are produced in an attempt to improve electrocatalytic and sensibility properties, which depend on the balanced control of their morphology, composition and physical structure.…”

“…Table S1 (SI) presents a relevant comparison of carbon supported Pd catalysts performance for glycerol electrooxidation reaction in alkaline media. The results from the normalization by either the geometric surface area (Figure S6a) or ECSA of Pd (Figure S6b) show that the present ACF@Pd300 material outperforms most of the data reported for monometallic Pd ,,,,,,…”

“…As can be seen, four main absorption bands, coming from the glycerol oxidative conversion at the surface of Pd containing electrode materials, appear in the spectral domain of 2000-1000 cm À1 . [40,41] In all these spectra, the band at ca. [40,41] In all these spectra, the band at ca.…”
