Identification of Autism Spectrum Disorder Using Machine Learning and Deep Learning Techniques

Abstract

The neuro-developmental condition ASD, also referred to as autism spectrum disorder, is characterized ongoing difficulties in by confined, repeating patterns of behavior, hobbies, or activities, as well as through communication and social interaction. Autistic children may have trouble in interacting with others, and learning the meaning of words for them is difficult. Parents notice odd behaviors in autistic children such as lack of coordination and repetition of bodily actions like turning, waving their hands quickly, and jerking their head and body violently. Autism spectrum disorder cannot be cured but makes a huge difference in the lives of many children if early treatment is given. And so, diagnosis of ASD should be as early as possible. The use of deep learning (DL) and machine learning (ML) techniques provides significant impact in detection of ASD. This chapter provides effective ASD detection techniques which detect ASD in a fast and more accurate way.
