The present study aims at helping to search for preventive solutions to pathologies of constructions in Togblécopé in Togo, by the reduction in the withdrawal and swelling of foundation grounds through their stabilization. Togblécopé's clay taken from 1 m, 2 m and 3 m deep, and mixed with four binding materials (cement, sea sand, silty sand and lime). Tests of identification and free swelling with odometer are carried out on pure and stabilized materials. What emerges from these tests is that the limits of liquidity and plasticity are rising along with the rate of stabilizers while the index of plasticity is falling. Cement and lime cause a reduction in the index value of plasticity by almost 50%. The more the sand's grain size, the more the reduction in the plasticity index. The swelling potential is reduced by 60% for cement and lime, 30% for sea sand and 20% for silty sand. The present study is a contribution to the reduction in deflations from 20% to 60% of some parts of constructions in order to limit cracks.

In Mila Province, Algeria (a.k.a Mila Wilaya), sensitive clays presenting shrinkage-swelling phenomena are widespread, covering large areas. Due to this, constructions and infrastructures sustainability built on such soils is questionable. Such clays sensitivity is amplified by seasonal rainfall deficits which reaches extreme magnitudes. In order to develop disasters' prevention measures, we present in this work, areas mapping susceptible to shrinkageswelling phenomenon by adopting a French method developed by B R G M. This method takes into account three measurable characteristics: i.e. lithological, mineralogical and geotechnical, of clayey formations identified in the studied sector. Based on these characteristics, three scores are attributed for each formation. Then, the susceptibility index is the obtained score average for each clayey formation. The susceptibility map is established on this index basis with three classes: low, medium, high.

Soft soils are widespread in many areas of the East-West highway of Algeria, covering large areas. Construction projects such as highway embankments, airfields, roads, and railways in such areas experience several problems due to their low strength and permeability. This study used a fully dynamic analysis to evaluate the dynamic response of a highway embankment. The numerical analysis was carried out using the FLAC 2D version 8.10 software. The main objective was to evaluate the effect of rigid inclusions on the dynamic response of highway embankments by monitoring settlement, shear-strain curves, and maximum soil accelerations and displacements at different depth points. The obtained results showed that the configuration of the rigid inclusions significantly influences the dynamic response of the model. For instance, the settlement at 0.9m is 16% higher than at 0.2m from rigid inclusion.
