Identification, Association of Natural Variation and Expression Analysis of ZmNAC9 Gene Response to Low Phosphorus in Maize Seedling Stage

Abstract: Phosphorus (P) is an essential macroelement supporting maize productivity and low-P stress is a limiting factor of maize growth and yield. Improving maize plant tolerance to low P through molecular breeding is an effective alternative to increase crop productivity. In this study, a total of 111 diverse maize inbred lines were used to identify the favorable alleles and nucleotide diversity of candidate ZmNAC9, which plays an important role in response to low P and regulation in root architecture. A significant … Show more

“…The full-length CDS region was cloned into plant expression vector pCAMBIA2300 for the ZmSPX s. The homologous recombination primers with enzyme cutting sites ( Sma I and Xba I) were designed by CEDesignV1.04 software and are shown in Supplementary Table S5 . The subcellular localization was assayed in tobacco leaves according to the previously reported transit transformation method ( Zhou et al., 2018 ; Sahito et al., 2020a , b ). The transformed tobacco epidermal cells were observed using the A1R-si laser confocal microscope (LSCM, Nikon, Tokyo, Japan) to visualize the green fluorescent protein (GFP) fluorescent signals.…”
