“…The single-ring TPs (TP8–TP10) could be formed by skeletal cleavage via type II ipso -substitution reactions (Figure S2) and were 29.4% present in the soil (Figure and Figure S1). The TPs might be toxic, e.g., polar 2,6-dibromo-4-nitrophenol (TP8) was toxic to many aquatic organisms at 0.13 μg/L–5 mg/L, including the polychaete Platynereis dumerilii, alga Gobiocypris rarus, and fishes Danio rerio and Poecilia reticulata. ,, It is noteworthy that the significant amount of TBBPA and its TPs (67.5% of the 14 C-EBRs, Figure ) released during the incubation might pose a risk to the peripheral environment of earthworms after their death and decomposition. Moreover, 26.6% of the detected TPs (TP7–TP11) are more hydrophilic than the parent TBBPA (Figure and Table S4), suggesting that those TPs might be more bioaccessible to soil organisms.…”

“…This method (Zalko et al, 2006) has been widely used to analyze metabolites with similar ionization efficiency in mass-spectrometry. Therefore, we established and validated the method by adding TML standard solutions to blank samples, which can be used to quantify TML and assess its metabolite conversion via the semi-quantitative relative abundance (Tan et al, 2020).…”

“…Liquid chromatography [ 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 ] and gas chromatography [ 10 , 11 ] are the main detection methods of TBBPA at the present time. They can realize the accurate qualitative and quantitative detection of TBBPA, with the advantages of high sensitivity and reproducibility.…”
