Identification and genomic analysis of a novel temperate bacteriophage infecting Labrenzia aggregata isolated from the Mariana Trench

Abstract: In marine environments, viruses play a pivotal role, yet deep-sea bacteriophages remains largely uncharacterized. The bacterium Labrenzia aggregata RF14, isolated from the Mariana Trench at a depth of 4,000 meters, harbors prophage regions based on a previous study. In this study, we induced a temperate bacteriophage from it using mitomycin C. The bacteriophage exhibited an icosahedral structure with a non-extendable tail and was named vB_LagS-V1.
