“…fst3 is also reported to be able to control the number of fruit body by inhibiting mushroom clustering formation, which is extremely important for fungal survival as it will ensure that at least one fruit‐body fully develops under unfavourable conditions (Sakamoto, 2018) such as low oxygen. Deletion of fst3 will lead to a small size of fruit bodies compared to the wild type (Ohm et al ., 2010; Qi et al ., 2019). Similarly, the expression of gat 1 is also significantly downregulated under lack of oxygen compared to aerobic conditions, especially in the fruit body.…”

“…Fst3 and fst4 were the transcription factor genes that expressed in the primordium or mature fruiting stage of Schizophyllum commune . Fst3 can inhibit the formation of redundant primordia clusters, and fst4 plays a role in the transformation of Schizophyllum commune from vegetative growth stage to reproductive growth stage [3] and the Pofst3 in P. ostreatus also plays the same role as fst3 in Schizophyllum commune [16]. After ASA was added, the expression of PoWC‐1 , PoWC‐2 , Pofst3, and Pofst4 genes changed, and the expression of PoWC‐2 and Pofst4 was significantly upregulated in the primordium stage (Figure 5).…”

“…Transcription factor fst4 can promote the formation of primordia of Schizophyllum commune , but fst3 does the opposite [3]. We found that the Pofst3 in P. ostreatus also plays the same role as fst3 in Schizophyllum commune [16].…”

“…The cDNA was synthesized from the total RNA using a PrimeScript RT Reagent Kit with gDNA Eraser (TaKaRa, Dalian, China). Subsequently, the RT-qPCR assay was performed according to a previous report [ 21 ]. Actin was used as an internal control [ 21 ].…”
