Identification and control of a wastewater treatment pilot by catalytic ozonation

Abstract: This paper deals with the control of a wastewater treatment pilot by catalytic ozonation. In general, catalytic ozonation processes operate with a deliberate ozone overproduction to obtain a treated water which respects the discharge standards. But, in this case, the oxygen consumption is not optimal and the operating costs are important. The objective of this study focuses on the optimization of the catalytic ozonation pilot. A continuous-time transfer function model is identified to represent the pilot behav… Show more

“…With this application, the goal is to reduce the oxygen consumption by minimizing the ozone overproduction with a closed-loop control. For the same application, an internal model control application is described in Abouzlam et al (2012a). In Abouzlam et al (2013), an optimal control (H 2 ) strategy was adopted.…”

“…This is achieved by manipulating the ozone generator power denoted by u 2 . Moreover, the absorbance denoted by A b is the second state for the CSTR according to [1]. A simple state-space model of the catalytic ozonation pilot iṡ At this stage, there is a proportional-integral controller whose control law is given by…”
