Among the studies that have collected similar data, one descriptive study was conducted in São Paulo [7,14,16], in the wich, proteomic analysis was applied to isolated and purified yeast samples and 100% were found to be positive for Candida sp., C. albicans is commonly found as a causative agent of onychomycosis, having been observed in one study as the main species among yeasts [14].
