Identificação Da Influência Da Pluviometria No Rendimento Do Milho No Semiárido Brasileiro

Show more

“…Maize, also known as corn (Zea mays L.), can be used in human, animal, and bioenergy production (Lopes et al, 2019). It is considered moderately tolerant to irrigation with saline water with electrical conductivity of up to 1.7 dS m -1 , with no reduction in grain yield (Ayers & Westcot, 1999).…”

“…Under full irrigation conditions, in the rainy season the maximum yield of cowpea (2998 kg ha -1 ) was observed in the treatment that received a five-day water suspension, while in the dry season, the maximum yield was 1763 kg ha -1 . Due to the great climatic variability in the northeastern semi-arid region, the adoption of techniques that enhance the increase of crop yield is of fundamental importance, such as the use of varieties that are more resistant to drought and mulching (Lopes et al, 2019).…”

“…However, family farming faces major problems to achieve high yield, and this is mainly due to the fact that farmers are not able to exploit the production potential of the crop due mainly to the spatial-temporal variability of rainfall. In addition, there is still a lack of adoption of minimal techniques that enhance the increase in crop yield, such as the use of irrigation and varieties that are more resistant to drought (ABREU ARAÚJO et al, 2019;LOPES et al, 2019).…”

“…Maize (Zea mays L.), with its origin in Central America, is of great economic importance, and is cultivated worldwide. In Brazil it is one of the main cereals produced (21,581.9 million hectares), with emphasis on food for human and animal consumption and bioenergy production [1][2][3][4]. The crop has gradually expanded into arid and semi-arid regions, where it helps to solve problems related to food security in places that have limited water resources [5,6].…”
