In this paper, the influence of mass-average molar mass (M w ) of polyoxymethylene (POM) copolymer on the thermooxidative degradation behavior of its nanocomposites with hydroxyapatite (HAp) is reported. POM copolymers' thermal stability slightly decreases with a decrease in mass-average molar mass. Thermal stability of POM/HAp nanocomposites is lower in comparison with pure POM, and it gets lower with a decrease in massaverage molar mass of POM copolymer. For POM copolymer with the highest molar mass, thermal stability of POM/HAp nanocomposite was ca. 30°C lower than for pure POM. To get a more in-depth insight into the decomposition process, kinetic analysis of POM/HAp nanocomposite thermal degradation process was performed using Friedman, Ozawa-Flynn-Wall and multiple nonlinear regression methods. The best fit for pristine T2, T3 and T4 copolymers with different molar mass of 100768, 74727 and 68377 g mol -1 , respectively, was obtained for onestage degradation mechanism with autocatalysis, while for T2/10 % HAp and T3/10 % it was parallel reaction model with autocatalysis (Bna) and phase-boundary reaction models (R3). For T4/10 % HAp, the best approximation was found for R2-Bna-D3 reaction model. From hyphenated TG-MS and TG-FTIR thermoanalytical studies, it was found that the main degradation product for POM/HAp nanocomposites is formaldehyde and the amount of other degradation products is lower in comparison with nonmodified POM copolymers.

Thermal degradation of five phosphonium cation-based ionic liquids ([P 66614 outperforming the other ones in both pyrolytic and oxidising conditions. Although the thermal degradation mechanism is affected by atmospheric conditions, the degradation trend remains practically constant. As the dynamic methodology usually overestimates the long-term thermal stability, an isoconversional methodology is better for predicting the long-term thermal stability of these ionic liquids in order to be used as base oil or additive in lubricants formulation. Finally, the model-free methodology can predict at lower costs the ILs performance in isothermal conditions. Highlights• Weakly coordinating anions provoke good thermal stability of ILs.• • Isoconversional methods are better than dynamic ones for long-term thermal studies.• Activation energy behavior at low conversions is related to a single reaction.• Model-free methodology can predict the ILs performance in isothermal conditions.

The products obtained during the thermal decomposition of ammonium meta-vanadate depend on the configuration of the container, the mass of the sample, the heating rate and the composition of the carrier gas. The decomposition in an uncapped container produced (NH 4 ) 2 V 4 O 11 , NH 4 V 3 O 8 , and V 2 O 5 as the apparent stable products while the products in a capped container were NH 4 V 3 O 8 , and V 2 O x where x was between 4 and 5. These differences are attributed to the different amounts of the evolved gases in the cell. EGA-FTIR clearly established that the reduced final product in the capped cell resulted from a reaction between NH 3 and the V 2 O 5 formed during the decomposition. A pre-equilibrium kinetics model where the rate of the reverse reaction depends on the partial pressure of the gaseous products in the cell could explain the different reaction intermediates. This model provides a possible explanation for the different apparent activation energies that have been reported for the thermal decomposition of other compounds where a reversible step could occur in the decomposition mechanism.
