Children with disabilities and their families are often socially isolated. To integrate them into society, it is important to improve their access to services and encourage families to participate in society. It is effective to incorporate information and communication technology in providing information access and care services for children with disabilities and their families. Therefore, this study explores parental satisfaction with and demand for information and communication technology‐based care services for children with disabilities. This study used an explanatory sequential mixed method design. A total of 99 parents of children enrolled in two schools for special education or rehabilitation hospital participated in the study. Data were collected from parents through either a questionnaire survey or interviews. The study was conducted from 5 November to 5 December 2018. More than 50% of the participants found it inconvenient to search for services and reported below‐average satisfaction because of a lack of information and the results being inappropriate, abstract, difficult to understand, insufficient and scattered. More than 70% of the participants were dissatisfied with the services because of their high cost and the limited frequency of use. Participants expressed a need for information and communication technology‐based services to address these issues, including services to help the child's development, with low eligibility requirements and easy access to treatment that can enhance networks and services. Parents had high care burdens and difficulties accessing services for their children, which highlights the need for alternative services.

Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the outcomes of the Comprehensive Health and Social Need Assessment (CHSNA) system, which identifies community residents’ health and social needs, and to link these needs with the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF). Methods: Adult community residents in a metropolitan city in Korea were recruited. They were asked to assess their health and social needs via the CHSNA system, which was integrated into an online community-care platform. Three assessment steps (basic health assessment, needs for activities of daily living, and in-depth health assessment) associated with five ICF components were used to evaluate physical health impairment, difficulties in activities and participation, and environmental problems. The final list of health and social needs was systematically linked to the domains and categories of the ICF. Only data from participants who completed all three assessment steps were included.Results: Wide ranges of impairments and difficulties regarding the daily living activities, physical health, and environmental status of the community were recorded from 190 people who completed assessments of their health and social needs by the CHSNA system. These participants reported various health and social needs for their community life; common needs corresponded to the ICF components of body functions and activities/participation. Conclusions: The ICF may be suitable for determining the health-related problems and needs of the general population. Possible improvements to the present system include providing support for completing all assessment steps and developing an ICF core set for an enhanced understanding of health and social needs.

How Does the Intelligent Monitoring System Influence the Sense of Security of the Elderly in Home Care? A Case Study of the Hubin Community in Ningde City

Under the background of rapid aging in China, the security of the elderly in home care has become the focus of social attention. The present study takes the Hubin community of Ningde City as the case study area; and uses hierarchical regression analysis, structural equation model, and other methods to explore the influence path of the sense of security of the elderly in home care under the moderating effect of the intelligent monitoring system, and the subjective and objective demands for such equipment among the elderly. The results showed that compared with family care and social support, the influence of individual health on the sense of security of the elderly in home care was dominant. The intelligent monitoring system can play a negative moderating effect in the process of individual health directly affecting the sense of security of the elderly in home care, and indirectly improving the sense of security of the elderly in home care. Therefore, under the premise of paying attention to the individual health of the elderly at home, the reasonable application of the intelligent monitoring system and full play to its moderating effect is a practical way to improve the sense of security of the elderly in home care. In addition, the family and society should also pay more attention to the security of the elderly in home care, so as to promote the overall improvement of their sense of security.
