Ob als Ausflugsziel von Touristen, als Corner-Treffpunkt oder als Ort zum Wohnen und Leben, im Schanzenviertel treffen Menschen mit den unterschiedlichsten Intentionen aufeinander, was in der Vergangenheit ein Konfliktpotenzial zwischen Anwohnern und Touristen barg. Dabei gilt die Sternschanze als das Trendviertel Hamburgs. Das zeigt sich auch in den sozialen Medien, welche ein ganz eigenes Bild der Sternschanze aufweisen. Doch entspricht dieses Bild der Realität? Und inwiefern wird hierbei die Touristifizierung des Stadtteils beeinflusst? In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde untersucht, ob das durch die sozialen Medien Instagram, Tripadvisor und Reiseblogs vermittelte Stadtteilimage die Touristifizierung der Sternschanze begünstigt. Eine Online-Befragung der Anwohner sowie eine eigens entwickelte Auswertungsmethodik der sozialen Medien ermöglichten die Gegenüberstellung der beiden Stadtteilimages. Dabei konnte in den sozialen Medien ein sehr positives, den Tourismus begünstigendes, Image der Sternschanze festgestellt werden, welches das zwar dörfliche, aber zu touristische Anwohner-Image potenziell noch stärker ins Negative beeinflusst.
