Abstract:Local errors in the geometrical description of the ice front are amplified in multistep simulations over conformal meshes due to the coupling of aerodynamics, water impingement, ice accretion, and grid deformation. Small perturbations in the initial phase of ice formation possibly result in dramatically different ice shapes, which can hinder the stability of the multistep procedure. This problem is analyzed by investigating the combined effects of space and time discretization on the ice growth over airfoils a… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
