Abstract:(1) Background. At subzero temperatures, water crystallizes on ice nucleation agents. Researchers have identified ice-nucleating microbes (INMs) in insect digestive tracts that can raise the insect’s supercooling point, causing freezing at higher temperatures but slower rates.
