“…We have data for the reactions d(x+,x+pn) and d(x+,xOpp) over the full solid angle, including previously unmeasured out-of-plane kinematics. These reactions are of considerable interest because significant deviations from Fadeeyev calculations, possibly arising from residual A -N interactions, [46] have been observed. We will also, for the first time, study the systematics of pionnucleus multiple scattering for A>2, which are related to the questions of multinucleon pion absorption.…”

[46] Measurement of the double-scattering and double-charge-exchange reactions will further test this model. The double-scattering reaction (x+, rRS2p) should be dominated by the sequential formation and decay of the delta, whereas the (x+, 7r-2p) and (T-, 7r-2p) reactions should be strongly modified by A -N scattering amplitude, which gives rise to the DINT diagram mentioned above for coherent DCX.…”
