trans-Resveratrol ameliorates anxiety-like behaviors and neuropathic pain in mouse model of post-traumatic stress disorder

Abstract: Background: trans-Resveratrol has been extensively investigated for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-psychiatric properties. However, whether it could rescue posttraumatic stress disorder-like stress-induced pain abnormality is unknown. Aim: The present study examined the effects of trans-resveratrol on anxiety-like behavior and neuropathic pain induced by single-prolonged stress, which is a classical animal model for mimicking posttraumatic stress disorder. Methods: The single-prolonged stress-ind… Show more

“…Anxiety disorders aggravate the occurrence and development of LBP, and the relationship between LBP and anxiety has recently attracted growing attention 24,25 . Resveratrol apparently alleviated multiple stress‐induced anxiety‐related behaviors 26,27 . Could the antianxiety effect of resveratrol contribute to LBP relief?…”

“…32 Trans-resveratrol protects neurons against PTSD through regulation of limbic hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis function and activation of neuroprotective molecules such as protein kinase A, phosphorylated cAMP response element-binding protein and brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression. 5 Antidepressant-like effect of trans-resveratrol involves the regulation of the central serotonin and noradrenaline levels and related MAO-A activities. 8 Treatment with PT increased STR levels of TRH-like peptides including Tyr-TRH, Phe-TRH and Val-TRH (Table 2 and Figure 2) which have antidepressant effects.…”
