trans-Dichloridotetrapyrazineruthenium(II) dichloromethane disolvate

Abstract: Key indicators: single-crystal X-ray study; T = 100 K; mean (C-C) = 0.003 Å; R factor = 0.016; wR factor = 0.040; data-to-parameter ratio = 17.3.In the title compound, [RuCl 2 (C 4 H 4 N 2 ) 4 ]Á2CH 2 Cl 2 , the Ru II atom occupies a position of 222 symmetry and the C atom of the solvent molecule occupies a site with twofold symmetry. The Ru II atom has a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. The pyrazine rings are propeller-like and rotated 45.1 (1) from the RuN 4 plane. In the crystal, the complex and solv… Show more

“…neutral tetrakis(DMAP) product, a general synthesis was followed, as described for trans-[RuCl 2 (pyrazine-N) 4 ] (Carlucci et al, 2002), where [RuCl 2 (dmso) 4 ] and four equivalents of a pyridyl-based ligand are heated in toluene for multiple hours. This method has yielded trans-[RuCl 2 (NN) 4 ] compounds with NN = 4-methoxypyridine (Reinheimer et al, 2023) or pyrazine (Nesterov et al, 2012). Rath and co-workers explored the effects of solvent polarity on the substitution of dmso and used a water/methanol solution of [Ru(dmso) 4 Cl 2 ] and two equivalents of pyridine to form cis,cis,cis-[RuCl 2 (dmso-S) 2 (py) 2 ] (Trivedi et al, 2010).…”
