Abstract

Her.bi.con'iux. L. n. herba plant; L. fem. n. coniux wife, female spouse; N.L. fem. n. Herbiconiux the associate of a plant, plant spouse. Actinobacteria / Actinobacteria / Micrococcales / Microbacteriaceae / Herbiconiux Cells are straight or curved short rods that are nonmotile . 0.5–0.75 × 0.8–2.0 µm. Nonspore forming. Cells are Gram‐stain positive . Growth is obligatory aerobic . Catalase positive. Oxidase reaction varies with species or experiment. Cell‐wall peptidoglycan contains d ‐Ala, Gly, d ‐Hyg, and d ‐ and l ‐DAB corresponding to the type B2 γ. The acyl type of peptidoglycan is N ‐acetyl . Fatty acid profiles are characterized by nonhydroxylated fatty acids in which mainly anteiso‐ and iso‐methyl‐branched forms are predominant with anteiso‐C 15:0 as a major component. The fatty acid cyclohexyl‐C 17:0 is found in the majority of species. Predominant respiratory quinone is menaquinone MK‐11 , but major amounts of MK‐10 may also be present, depending on the species. DNA G + C content ( mol% ): 69–71 (HPLC). Type species : Herbiconiux ginsengi (Qiu et al. 2007) Behrendt, Schumann, Hamada, Suzuki, Spröer and Ulrich 2011, 1045 VP .
