Armatimonadetes / Chthonomonadetes / Chthonomonadales / Chthonomonadaceae The family Chthonomonadaceae was circumscribed for this volume on a phylogenetic basis via comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis of a single isolated representative and uncultured representatives from multiple terrestrial and aquatic habitats; the family contains the genus Chthonomonas .
