Abstract

An.ae.ro.spo.ro.mu'sa. Gr. pref. an without; Gr. masc. n. aer air; Gr. fem. n. spora seed; L. fem. n. musa banana; N.L. fem. n. Anaerosporomusa an anaerobic spore‐bearing banana. Firmicutes / Negativicutes / Selenomonadales / Sporomusaceae / Anaerosporomusa Anaerosporomusa is a genus in the phylum Firmicutes , family Sporomusaceae , order Selenomonadales , and class Negativicutes . Currently, this genus has only one cultured species— Anaerosporomusa subterranea —which was isolated from chemically weathered bedrock. The organism is an obligate anaerobe and its growth is limited to fermentation on short‐chain carboxylic acids. Cells are motile, Gram‐stain‐negative, with lengths and widths ranging from 2 to 4 µm and 0.3 to 0.5 µm, respectively. Members of this genus are endospore formers, which can be observed by microscopy. The dominant fatty acids are saturated lipids. DNA G + C content (mol%) : 52 (HPLC), 47.1 (Genome). Type species : Anaerosporomusa subterranea Choi, Shah and Yee 2016, 3852 VP .
