(S)-4-(4-Mercaptophenyl)-2,2,4-trimethylchroman

Abstract: Key indicators: single-crystal X-ray study; T = 100 K; mean (C-C) = 0.005 Å; R factor = 0.083; wR factor = 0.202; data-to-parameter ratio = 17.5.Crystallization of the title compound, C 18 H 20 OS, from cyclohexane gives the unsolvated crystal structure. Linear strands of molecules are formed by S-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds, with edge-to-faceinteractions connecting neighboring strands. organic compounds o3736 # 2007 International Union of Crystallography

“…[9][10][11] These fascinating compounds continue to attract the attention of researchers into host-guest and supramolecular phenomena. [12][13][14][15][16] In this paper we describe the inclusion chemistry and crystal structure of the diol 2 and will argue that this very different molecule functions as a supramolecular cousin of 1 and the b-form of hydroquinone 3.…”
