Retracted: Wogonoside promotes apoptosis in gastric cancer AGS and SGC‐7901 cells through induction of mitochondrial dysfunction and endoplasmic reticulum stress

Abstract: Wogonoside (Wg), a natural flavonoid, has anticancer effects against several human cancers. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the antitumor effects and underlying mechanisms of Wg on gastric cancer (GC) cell lines. We report that Wg treatment inhibited cell viability and induced apoptosis in human GC cell lines AGS and SGC‐7901, and also retarded GC tumor growth in xenograft mice in vivo. We also found that the Wg exerted its antitumor effects against GC cells via induction of reaction oxygen… Show more

“…We found overlap between some of the transwell assay images used in Figures 5F, 6F, 6H, 7G and data published by other authors at earlier date [1]. We also found that images of wound healing assay presented in Figure 7D, F duplicate images published in unrelated papers [2,3], and identical images of Western blots in Figure 6K are presented in two unrelated papers [2,4]. The authors informed Aging that all these issues cannot be resolved and agreed to retract the article.…”

“…For example, baicalin inhibits the proliferation and aggravates the apoptosis of gastric cancer cells (BGC-823 and MGC-803) via downregulating Bcl-2. 20) Wogonoside (Wg) mitigated cell viability and induced apoptosis in human GC cell lines AGS and SGC-7901 through induction of reaction oxygen species accumulation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and endoplasmic reticulum stress. 21) What is more, Wogonin potentiates gastric cancer cells to 5-fluorouracil therapy through attenuating the activation of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappaB) pathway.…”

“… Fig. 2F contains multiple panels that seem to overlap with panels in Fig 1C a previously-published paper by different authors [ 3 ], Fig 1D in a previously-published paper by different authors [ 4 ], as well as Fig 5E, 6E and 7H in a paper by different authors that was under submission at the same time [ 1 ].
