Polls & Elections: Superdelegates or Supertrustees? The Timing and Consistency of Superdelegate Decisions

Abstract: Do superdelegates heed public opinion in deciding whom to support in nomination contests or do they follow their own conscience? We examine both individual and environmental factors peculiar to superdelegate decision making to ascertain whether and how they integrate populist considerations into their nomination choices.
