“…MCF10A cells were kindly provided by Dr. Yosef Yarden (Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel) in December 2009 and were cultured as described (19). MCF10AT1 cells were kindly provided by Dr. Avraham Raz (Wayne State University, Detroit, MI) (20) in January 2010. Cells were infected with control empty vector (Mock), heparanase or its C-terminal domain (8C) (17) gene constructs, selected with Blasticidin (10μg/ml; Invitrogen), expended and pooled.…”

“…[10] OS is a dietary herb and well known for its multiple beneficial pharmacologic properties including anti-cancer activity. [17] Plant possesses antineoplastic effects and it can be used for the prevention and treatment of human cancer. Crude extract of OG and its hydrophobic and hydrophilic fractions (HB and HL) differentially inhibit breast cancer cell chemotaxis and chemoinvasion in vitro and retard tumor growth and temporal progression of MCF10ADCIS.com xenografts, a model of human breast comedo-ductal carcinoma in situ (comedo-DCIS).…”

“…OG is non-toxic and obstruct cancerous activity MMP inhibitory activity [ Table 1]. [17] Tulsi (OS Linn) extract shows apoptosis-inducing ability on LNCaP prostate cancer cells. [5] When LNCaP prostate cancer cells were treated with different concentrations of 70% ethanolic extract of Tulsi (EET), they show cytotoxicity after 24 and 48h of treatment.…”

“…A concentration-dependent anti-proliferative activity of OG was documented in prostate cancer (PC-3) cells in-vitro (Ekunwe et al ., 2010). Aqueous leaf extract of OG also inhibited proliferation, migration, anchorage independent growth, morphogenesis, induction of COX-2 protein (Nangia-Makker et al ., 2007) and matrix metaloproteases (Nangia-Makker et al ., 2013) in breast cancer cells. Such tumor prevention potential is common in plants with polyphenolic compounds, anti-oxidants, vitamins, and v-3 fatty acids (Fahey et al ., 1997; Pezzuto, 1997; Kobayashi et al ., 2000); it is therefore not surprising that polyphenolic and antioxidant components were reported in OG (Venuprasad et al ., 2014).…”
