Abstract: Paratuberculosis is a global infectious disease caused by the bacterium, Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP). MAP infection of ruminants triggers progressive wasting disease characterized by granulomatous lymphadenitis, enteritis, and severe intestinal pathology that often requires early culling of the animal.
