Malayacyclusgen. nov., the first Southeast Asian Cyclida (Crustacea) from the Early Carboniferous of Terengganu, Malaysia

Abstract: a new genus and species of the Cyclida (Crustacea), is reported from the Early Carboniferous (Visean) of Terengganu, eastern Peninsular Malaysia (East Malaya Block). The new genus possesses diagnostic features of both families Cyclidae and Americlidae. Plus, it develops the trifurcate posterior spines: a unique morphology that was not previously known for any cyclidan genera. Based on the possession of an anterior rostrum and optic notches, it is tentatively included in the Americlidae. This represents the fir… Show more

Guo et al, 2021; Qiao et al, 2021; Song et al, 2021; Zong, Becker, & Ma, 2021). Six papers concern palaeontology and stratigraphy from the Carboniferous (Yao et al, 2021; Z. Guo, Chen, Harper, & Huang, 2021; Tang et al, 2021; Shi et al, 2021; Mao et al, 2021; X. Huang et al, 2021). Six papers report various fossil groups (bivalves, corals, and plants) (F. Chen, Xue, Yan, & Meng, 2021; Wan, Yang, Wang, Liu, & Wang, 2021; X. Wang, Yao, & Wang, 2021), trace fossils (Ding, Duan, Wu, & Cao, 2021), and carbon isotopic chemostratigraphy of the Permian (Q.
