In vitroanti-inflammatory activity of spherical silver nanoparticles and monodisperse hexagonal gold nanoparticles by fruit extract ofPrunus serrulata: a green synthetic approach

Abstract: Recently, green metal nanoparticles have received global attention owing to their economical synthesis, biocompatible nature, widespread biomedical and environmental applications. Current study demonstrates a sustainable approach for the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (P-AgNPs) and gold nanoparticles (P-AuNPs) from P. serrulata fresh fruit extract. The silver and gold nanoparticles were synthesized in a very rapid, efficient and facile manner, within 50 min and 30 s at 80 °C, respectively. The nanopar… Show more

“…44 Silver nanoparticles were reported to possess an antiinflammatory effect, through modulation of the level of inflammatory cytokines and growth factors. 45 Periodontal dressing coated with silver nanoparticles can be used to treat gingival wounds. This treatment accelerates the early phases of wound healing, with apparently new collagen synthesis and neovascularization.…”

“…The crystallinity of the biosynthesized nanoparticles was evaluated by selected area (electron) diffraction (SAED) [22,33]. The multiple electron diffraction patterns corresponding to the polycrystalline nature of the synthesized nanoparticles were detected conforming to lattice planes of Bragg's reflection (111), (200), (220) and (311) (Figure 4(E-H)) [24,38]. This is in agreement with the finding reported by Abbai et al, who characterized multifunctional Ag and AuNPs from the oriental herbal adaptogen Siberian ginseng [26].…”

“…94 In contrast, spherical silver and hexagonal gold NPs reduced expression of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandin E 2 and nitric oxide (NO), and significantly suppressed nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathway in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW264.7 cells. 95 Silver NPs also showed significant anti-inflammatory effects in microglial cells, by reducing nitric oxide, LPS-stimulated ROS, and TNF-α production, by induction of hydrogen sulfide-synthesizing enzyme cystathionine-γ-lyase. 96 Thus, combining the natural anti-inflammatory characteristics of these NPs with small molecules, drugs, peptides or smallinterfering ribonucleic acid can provide targeted immunosuppression, which is more effective and has less side effects than systemic therapy.…”
