Abstract: An in vitro study was performed to compare the effects of augmenting interlocking nails of one of two diameters (5 or 6 mm) with intramedullary polymethylmethacrylate. Subsequently, an in vivo study was performed to compare the effects of augmenting the interlocking nail with five combinations of intramedullary polymethylmethacrylate and autogenous cancellous bone applied to the periosteal surface or within the medullary canal.
