In utero gratification behaviour in male fetus

Abstract: Fetal masturbation has been described previously once in utero but only as a description of an action. Masturbation is well described in infancy and early childhood when they discover that this practice can give them pleasure. Our letter proves that it could begin in utero as a 'gratification behaviour'. We have shown this pattern clearly by using a volumetric rendering mode study. © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

“…A sonographic study not only described clitoral caresses but also a behavior pattern close to that of orgasm in a 32-week-old fetus [166]. Evidence exists for erection and masturbation also in male fetuses [167]. The fact that self-stimulation of the genitals occurs already during the fetal period, together with the observation of orgasm-like motor patterns, could suggest that this kind of stimulation produces positive affects in females as well as in males already before birth.…”

“…These studies have been motivated by both medical and non‐medical reasons, including parental interest in knowing the fetal sex as early and accurately as possible. Currently, almost all structures of the external and internal fetal genitalia have been observed using different imaging techniques (two‐dimensional, 3D and Doppler ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging) 13,14 , and the various processes of differentiation and development have been documented, including testicular descent, urination, erection and masturbation 15,16 . Fetal sex determination is even performed in the early stages of embryo differentiation 17 .…”

“…Childhood masturbation could be described as genital stimulation and touching begins at the age of two months, although in certain cases, it may start in utero [4] . One of the main individual features of childhood masturbation is that the behavior occasionally stops if the child becomes distracted, helping to differentiate masturbation from different simulating conditions [5] .…”
