In situ Growth of Phase‐Controlled Nickel Sulfide Nanostructures on Reduced Graphene Oxide Nanosheets : A Improved Cost‐effective Catalyst for 4‐Nitrophenol Reduction

Abstract: Reduced graphene oxide (rGO)‐functionalized nickel sulfide nanoparticles were synthesized using a temperature‐controlled injection method. Syntheses were carried out in single (oleylamine) and mixed (oleylamine, oleic acid, and octadecene) solvents. Phase‐controlled NiS, NiS2, or Ni3S4 nanocrystals were decorated on rGO sheets through the single‐step temperature‐controlled injection processes. Problems with the synthesis of rGO/nickel sulfide yielding mixed phases were overcome by adjusting the solvent mixture… Show more

“…The injection method enabled the sulfur ions to react slowly with the well-dispersed nickel ions, ensuring the generation of specific single phases. 212 Ni 3 S 4 NPs were produced via the decomposition of two different nickel precursors in the presence of 1-dodecanethiol and OAm/OAc. The choice of precursor led to a change in the triangular nanoprism shape to tetrahedra (nanopyramids).…”

“…The carbon peaks for S-Bi 2 Mo 2 O 9 and M-Bi 2 Mo 2 O 9 do not differ greatly, which confirms the absence of RGO in the annealed M-Bi 2 Mo 2 O 9 . As shown in Fig.6(e), due to Bi-O and Mo-O bonding in Bi 2 Mo 2 O 9 , a distinct peak appears in the O1s pattern at 531.1 eV [46][47][48].…”

“…The PXRD patterns were refined by taking the structure models of both NiS and NiS 2 . The compounds synthesized using the reactant ratios 1 : 5 and 1 : 7 have pure NiS 2 Cubic phase with the space group Pa-3 (Figure2a) and 1 : 3 ratio has mixed phases of NiS 2 (Cubic phase with the space group Pa-3) and NiS (Hexagonal phase with the space group P63/m m c) (Figure2b) [1,6]. The nickel sulfide nanoparticles synthesized with different O/F ratios have been in addition investigated by means of FTIR spectroscopy and the same have been depicted in Figure3.…”
