(g− 2)μand α(M2Z) re-evaluated using new precise data

Abstract: We update our standard model predictions for g − 2 of the muon and for the hadronic contributions to the running of the QED coupling, α (5) had M 2 Z . Particular emphasis is put on recent changes in the hadronic contributions from new data in the 2π channel and from the energy region just below 2 GeV. In particular, for the e + e − → π + π − contribution we include the recent 'radiative return' data from KLOE and BaBar. We also include the recent BaBar data on other exclusive channels. We make a detailed stud… Show more

“…[18], which is used in the KNT analysis [1]. By using these new data sets, together with our improved data-combination algorithm, which we will discuss in the next subsection, we obtain an improvement of more than 30% in this channel compared to the HLMNT analysis [13], as shown in Table 3.…”

“…A phenomenological approach [4,5] based on a dispersion relation and on the experimental measurement of the cross-section for hadron production in e + e − -annihilation provides a method to determine the hadronic contribution to the running of α(Q 2 ). A similar approach is used to extract the lowest-order hadronic contribution to the muon g − 2.…”
