“…In California, English and Davis (1978) were unable to induce pathogenesis in two pear cultivars by inoculation with isolates highly virulent to apricot, and we know of no other studies of the pathogen in this host. The evidence to date suggests then, that pathogenesis in the pear is a slow process proceeding at a rate akin to that in the grapevine and attributable only to specific pathotypes occurring in a few regions.…”
