ERJ Open Research2024: achievements, vision and gratitude

Abstract

Extract ERJ Open Research aims to be the leading open access journal in respiratory medicine. Since its launch in May 2015 [1], the journal has achieved its first Journal Impact Factor (JIF) of 4.2 in the 2021 Journal Citation Report [2]. Last year, it maintained a JIF of 4.6 (figure 1a), ranking 22nd out of 66 and falling within the JIF Q2 quartile in the Respiratory Systems category. The Journal Citation Indicator increased from 0.71 to 0.86, and the number of total citations rose from 2918 to 4028. Over the last 2 years, we also have experienced consistent growth in several other important areas.
