These examples illustrate the difficulty in determining very small taxa.…”

“…However, whereas C. euglypta has the same stria density on both valves (Hustedt, 1927(Hustedt, -1966, C. margaritata has denser striation on the RV, and lacks the characteristic hyaline marginal rim of C. euglypta. Moreover, according to Krammer & Lange-Bertalot (1991) the RV valvocopula has irregular fimbriae in C. euglypta and its varieties, or irregular fimbriae on both valvocopulae (Sar et al, 2003;Kobayasi et al, 2006). Only the SV valvocopula of C. margaritata has an indented pars interior and the RV valvocopula lacks fimbriae.…”
