Beauveria brongniartii Sacc. (Petch) against Melolontha spp. white grubs in forest nurseries with different soil pH

Abstract: This paper treats the stability of two superposed gravitating streams rotating about the axis transverse to the horizontal magnetic field. The critical wave number for instability is found to be affected by rotation for propagation perpendicular to the axis about which the system rotates. The critical wave number for instability is not affected by rotation when waves propagate along the axis of rotation. The critical wave number is affected by both the magnetic field and the streaming velocity in both cases. B… Show more

“…Because of the ability of B. brongniartii to specifically infect and kill insects, several strains have been tested and used commercially as BCAs against cockchafer grubs in various European countries (Enkerli et al 2001(Enkerli et al , 2004Keller et al 1997;Mayerhofer et al 2015;Sierpińska 2008;Strasser and Enkerli 2001;Strasser et al 2000). These BCAs have been tested in agricultural and forest environments, but in the latter no satisfactory results have been achieved (Sierpińska et al 2015). The identification of edaphic factors in natural forest habitats (soil types, pH ranges, etc.)…”

“…This forces the practitioners to look for alternative solutions; hence, they attempt to use jute sacks so as to protect seedling roots, as well as various types of barriers buried along nursery edges to hamper grub migration from adjacent tree stands (Woreta 2015). Studies undertaken presently focus on the use of grub natural enemies, including fungus Beauveria brongniartii and insecticidal nematodes (Kreft et al 2012;Sierpińska et al 2015). Nonetheless, the results obtained so far indicate weak effects of natural enemies on grub population numbers.…”
