Abstract: Apolipoprotein E4 (APOE4) is the strongest risk allele associated with the development of late onset Alzheimers disease (AD). Across the CNS, astrocytes are the predominant expressor of ApoE while also being critical mediators of neuroinflammation and cerebral metabolism.
