Hysteroscopy role for female genital tuberculosis

Abstract: Female genital tuberculosis affects the quality of women's lives. One of the symptoms is amenorrhea. In our country, it is still underdiagnosed due to limited resources. Hysteroscopy is known as one of the diagnostic tools for this condition. We performed hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy in four cases. Hysteroscopy findings show various signs. “…In patients with extensive plaques of EOM and bone fragments embedded in the myometrium, where satisfactory hysteroscopic removal is difficult, the usefulness of laparoscopic control during the procedure has been highlighted, which allows for greater accuracy and minimization of risks and complications such as uterine perforation. [ 10 11 12 13 14 15 ] At hysteroscopy, osseous metaplasia appears as osseous lamellae, white in color, fan or disc-shaped, and embedded in the mucosa, or as an intracavitary structure. On reviewing the literature, this kind of complication was not discovered until hysterectomy in some patients and was misdiagnosed in several cases.…”

“…Several observations made during laparoscopy and hysteroscopy have been mentioned in the published research that are relevant to FGTB. [14][15][16][17] This pioneering study explores uncharted territory, delving into laparoscopic and hysteroscopic findings in subfertile women with confirmed FGTB. It seeks to illuminate the diagnostic prowess of these procedures, unveiling tuberculosis-related anatomic and physiological shifts while enhancing diagnostic precision and patient well-being.…”
