Hypothesis: Stress Induced Vascular Entrapment and Migraine

Abstract

SYNOPSISAn hypothesis: A certain vascular anatomic relationship may help explain migrainous occurrences after stressful periods. (Headache 28:267-268, 1988) There are no proven initiating, perpetuating, nor terminating migrainous mechanisms. Reasonable agreement is had on: (1) familial history's 1,2 significance in "migraine" a diagnosis; (2) its frequent occurrence during weekends, holidays, and after periods of emotional stress; and, (3) certain vascular phenomena preceding and following prodromes. None of these are universally applicable.
